Liv Urquhart, BHK, RMT

Liv Urquhart is a passionate educator, movement specialist, and the founder of The Body Balance Studio, dedicated to making movement literacy more accessible across Canada. With over nine years in the wellness industry, Liv blends science-backed expertise with a holistic approach, empowering individuals to move with confidence, strength, and intention.

She holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Human Kinetics, an Advanced Diploma in Massage Therapy, and multiple certifications in Mat Pilates, Lagree, Functional Movement Screening (FMS), Yoga (200hr YTT), and Holistic Nutrition. Liv’s teaching style combines traditional Pilates principles with contemporary movement science, ensuring every class is both accessible and transformative—whether you’re deepening your personal practice or stepping into a leadership role as an instructor.

At the heart of Liv’s work is a bigger mission: to improve movement literacy and create more opportunities for mindful movement in communities across the country. Through her 100-hour Mat Pilates Certification, she’s training the next generation of instructors—helping them bring Pilates to both urban centers and remote areas, where movement education is needed most.

    • Online anatomy course module to be 100% completed by in person hours

    • 28 hours of in class learning

    • 18 hours observation (online or in person)

    • 18 hours participation (online or in person)

    • 15 hours practice teaching (in person)

    • Examination (written essay, practical video assessment, online assignments)

  • to receive your full certification, you will be required to complete:

    • 100% of in-person class hours

    • 100% of online post-course revision & business module

    • 18 hours of participation

    • 18 hours of observation

    • 15 hours practice teaching

    • written class plan (of your final video submission)

    • 45-60 min video of a pilates mat class (final practical submission)

    • 1000-word essay

  • early bird rate: $2250 + hst

    regular rate: $2500 + hst

    • $500 non-refundable deposit due upon registration

    • payment plan available to be paid fully 1 month prior to course start date

  • Observation and participation hours must be completed after in-person hours.

    They can be completed with both in-person classes or online classes (with proof of membership).

  • practice teaching hours must be to a minimum of 1 person and recorded in the log book, to be submitted for final practical.

  • Participants are given 6 months from the last day of in-person training to complete the online content and assessments.

  • A make up assignment & quiz will be given if, for valid reasons, a participant must miss one of the in person training days. if more than 15% of the in person hours are missed, the participant will be able to purchase a private 1-1 extension lesson with liv.
